Competition BootCamp

The Driven Tactical Competition BootCamp is designed to improve and fine-tune skills used in competitive action pistol shooting, but the skills learned in these courses translate to all practical pistol shooting. The bootcamp exists to touch on all of the "big hitters" in competitive shooting. These same topics are also taught in the Competition Skills Clinics, the difference being that in the CBC you will have the opportunity to engage each topic as an integrated unit. Like the driven tactical competition shooting clinics, the Competition BootCamp is meant to fill the "training gap" that exists between basic pistol shooting/ccw courses and the high-end shooting classes offered by many of the best shooters in the world (Contact me for recommendations if you are ready to take the step up into their courses). Many competitive shooters aren't ready to make use of the more advanced courses, but aren't going to benefit from the very basic courses. Instead, training with someone who will watch and coach improvements to your shooting style and comfort level. You don't have to be a bad shooter, or a good shooter to benefit. Everyone has something to gain from having a second set of eyes while they run drills.

You will learn the theory of these "big hitter" skills and their application, as well as being led and coached through dry-fire drills that can be used at home to continually improve, as well as live-fire drills to assess and address areas for improvement.

The Competition BootCamp will start with a small sample of hallmark drills to measure individual shooter performance.

Then, we will check out your shooting belt setup for efficiency and ergonomics, making recommendations and adjustments that you are comfortable with, as necessary.

Then, we will discuss, dry-fire, and live-fire drill the "big-hitters":

  • Stance and Posture - "Heads-up Shooting"
  • Defining a "work-space"
  • Gripping/Holding a Pistol
  • 4-point draw
  • Aiming - Point/Target-Focus/Sight-Focus
  • Firing & Cadence
  • Reloads
  • Target Transitions
  • Movement
  • Mental and Physical Match Preparation

Then, we will repeat the hallmark drills and measure your improvement.
